For most businesses, providing a link to your location on Google Maps is a must. It is a part of doing business on the web for a local business, especially if you have a location where you want people to visit and do business with you. Some businesses, though, may have to rethink that plan, including a link to your location on Google Maps. Starting January 1, 2012, Google will start charging businesses a Google Maps Usage Fee. So, if you are a local business, and you hit a certain limit, you will be charged a Google Maps usage fee for use of their Google Maps API. This will only affect a certain percentage of businesses, but any new fees that Google starts charging (when they did not previously charge a fee), is worth looking at, as it could be quite costly.
